20.09.07 SportStarS expand across Hampshire! Your Local Community Sports HUB SportStarS Coaching Limited is based in Fareham, Hampshire and now reaches out to over 30 schools and venues throughout Hampshire area, coaching over 5000 children a year and marketing to over 6000 households. SportStarS director of Sport David Hazelgrove says “the demand for our quality coaching is ever increasing and schools are now booking us for more than just after school clubs, we are providing cover for schools on inset days to PPA supply for teachers in the primary, Junior and infant sector of the education market. The sports we coach range from Basketball to Gymnastics with Football being our main community link. Our young football club SportStarS FC are now running with 3 teams in the Eastleigh and District mini soccer league’’ SportStarS, who provide structured activity sessions to allow teachers time for planning, preparation and assessment (PPA) work, was launched in 2003 with five schools on their books. Today, SportStarS operate with more than 30 schools, employ full-time staff, 20 on-call coaches and have run in-school and holiday courses for more than 5,000 children. SportStarS have been given the opportunity to work with head teachers and develop a trust which allows us to deliver a professional service that prides itself on quality coaching in curriculum time. Schools which have used the service say it not only releases staff for PPA demands but has helped develop social, team and leadership skills. 30.08.07 Elizabeth Foundation Charity Match August 2007 SportStarS coaches took to the field this August to raise money for the Elizabeth Foundation based in Cosham. The team took on a squad of ex – professional footballers and TV stars arranged by ex – Portsmouth player Lee Bradbury, Lee was great in organising the Legends team which saw players like Guy Whittingham, Andy Awford, Sammy Igoe and TV stars from teen TV soap Hollyoaks take to the field in this enjoyable event. The night raised over £2000.00 for the children’s charity. Sam Mogan was inspirational in working to get the evening ready and he spent a lot of his own time preparing the event. SportStarS coaching Limited are actively involved with the Elizabeth Foundation and are looking to make this an annual event after winning this years match 3 – 2.
